Intermediate Structural Engineer

Structural Engineer

The Situation:
With Christchurch a hive of construction activity as we rebuild the city, work is flowing thick and fast and we need Intermediate Structural Engineers to meet the demand. Whether your experience is local or overseas, we want to talk to you!
Whether you want to get out on site more, want more mentoring, want to get on the road to chartership or just want to get more technical, we can help. We have been recruiting exclusively in the technical sector for over 10 years in Christchurch and can work with you to take a strategic approach on your next career move.
The Job:
If you meet our criteria, there are a combination of commercial, new build, education, healthcare, residential and renovation projects to choose from. The unique conditions in Christchurch mean that involvement in these will be an excellent anchor point for your future career. Our clients are dynamic – usually multidisciplinary - consultancies offering an exciting, progressive environment with plenty of opportunity for professional development.
Your activities will range from designing building structures, conducting site assessments and client liaison. You will be working closely with like-minded Engineers to ensure smooth project delivery; depending on your experience there may also be options for running your own projects.
The Offer:
With New Year in swing and our clients’ plans for 2014 being solidified as you read this, we are offering you the chance to get an unfair advantage over other applicants by registering with us and allowing us to present you in your best light to clients even before a position is advertised.
We can’t always control when a position comes in, but the more we know about you, the better placed we are to let you know about roles that are “hot off the press”.  If you would like to become a part of our select candidate database, apply today!
I'm interested. What do I need?

  • Between 2 - 7 years’ experience in commercial / industrial / residential design.
  • Seismic experience (highly advantageous but not essential).
  • Ability to integrate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
Naturally you will also need a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s qualification – preferably from a country belonging to the Washington Accord (although applicants without a Washington Accord degree will be considered if they have significant relevant experience).
How does it work?
If you can tick the boxes above, please send in
your CV and cover letter to Lachlan McNeill outlining your skills and aspirations. Alternatively, you can telephone on +64 (0)3 365 6673 for a confidential discussion.
We will screen your CV and then arrange a telephone, Skype or face to face chat depending on your current location. All applications will be attended to one way or the other – you won’t be left hanging and not knowing where you stand. We pride ourselves on taking care of you, our valued candidates.
If you are not a New Zealand Citizen, we welcome your application but also ask you to include your visa status and - if overseas - your expected timescale to arrive in New Zealand.
